In Sequencer
The Blendable FX Effect track plays any effect from a Level Sequence, held as an overlay or struck as impacts on its keys, centred on someone in the sequence at a bone or socket of theirs. For cutscenes, finishers and kill cams.
Any Level Sequence can play Blendable FX effects. Add a Blendable FX Effect track from + Track and each section on it plays one effect, in the game, over each local player's view. It doesn't show in the editor's Sequencer preview: play the level to see it.
Two ways to play#
| Plays | What the section does |
|---|---|
| An Overlay | holds the effect over the view at its Amount, keyed, or eased in and out by the section's own ease handles. A grade that comes and goes with a shot, a vignette that closes in on a line |
| Impacts | strikes the effect once at each Amount key, the key's value how hard. Every time the sequence plays, the keys strike again, so a shot played twice hits twice |
An overlay's amount at 1 is the effect as its asset says. Some looks flash to their colour as they near full strength, speed lines among them, so try an overlay at 0.6 before turning it up.
Centred on someone#
Effects that are centred Where It's Played (impact frames, speed lines, a shockwave) can be centred on someone in the sequence. Centred On names a binding, the attacker or the victim in a finisher, say, and At Their Socket a bone or socket of theirs: speed lines round a fist (hand_r), an impact frame on a face (head). Left empty, it's their chest. The centre follows them as they move, so a punch thrown across the screen keeps its speed lines.
With Blendable's Blendshot#
With Blendable installed too, a finisher or kill cam shot is a Level Sequence like any other, so its hits can strike Blendable FX effects: a red impact frame on the fist as it lands, a white smear on the punch, a flash of grain as an arrow strikes. Blendable's own shipped shots don't use the track, so they work without Blendable FX. Blendable's Blendshot docs go through the rest of the tracks a shot is made of.
